Welcome to the website of the Warwick Corps of Drums, better known as the Warwick Girls Marching Band.
The band was formed in 1979. Since then we’ve played all over the world including Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy and the USA. We’ve performed at Wembley Arena, Hampden Park, the Royal Albert Hall and the National Indoor Arena. We’ve marched in the Lord Mayor of London’s parade, the annual St Patrick’s Day celebrations in Birmingham and carnivals all across the country, including good old Warwick.
The girls range between the ages of 8 and 25 and play popular tunes from memory on brass, woodwind and percussion instruments while creating complex patterns and shapes on a football pitch-sized arena. There is also a section known as the ‘colourguard’ where the girls spin flags and other equipment at the same time as performing dance moves. Banding is truly is one of the most demanding of the performing arts, challenging both mentally and physically.
You don’t need to live in Warwick to play with us. We have had girls from as far afield as Rugby, Southam, Daventry, Stratford-upon-Avon, Coventry, Leicester and Solihull. You don’t even need any experience – our instructors will teach you all you need to know.
Thank you for visiting our site. Please take time to browse it – you’ll find everything you need to know about us as well as details of how to Contact Us.
